You might find it hard to resign from a steward position, especially if you have developed a liking for the work.
However, if circumstances do not permit you to stay, you will need to write a resignation letter to let your employer know about your intention to leave.
Resignations are hard to write for many reasons.
Firstly, because finding the right words is difficult.
Secondly, you have to convince the employer that your reason to leave is valid so that he or she readily accepts your resignation letter.

Dear Mr. Rider:
It is with great regret and unhappiness that I am leaving my position as a steward for Captain Food on 2-weeks’ notice. Please note that November 5 will be my last working day.
After much thought and consideration, I have realized that it is impossible for me to continue working in this role.
As you are aware, I had taken an entire week off from work last month due to health issues. Every time I perform any kind of physical work, my breathing is badly affected. A recent visit to my doctor confirmed heart disease, which is devastating news for me. As someone who has always been on his feet, this consequence is unacceptable.
However, I have to take into account my age and health, which is why I won’t be able to perform physically challenging work anymore. For someone who loves his work immensely, and enjoys his time at his workplace, this is a complete blow.
