So it is time to leave your job and move on – maybe due to relocation or personal reasons.

Writing resignation letters can be a bittersweet event. It all depends on why we are resigning and what we intend to do with ourselves once we have given up a job.

There are many situations that can warrant a resignation including:

  • A better job offer in another company
  • A move to another state, city, or country
  • Health
  • Domestic problems
  • Forced retirement
  • Voluntary retirement

What to Include in a Resignation Letter?

A Security Guard resignation letter should include:

  1. Statement of intention to resign
  2. Notice period and last date at your work
  3. Explanation of why you are resigning (Optional)
  4. Something positive about your experiences in the company
  5. A thank you sentence

Mr. Julian Treble
Human Resource Manager
Curtain Fall Security Services
2938 Orange Ave
Nantucket, MA 02582

Dear Mr. Treble:

I am writing this letter to inform you of my decision to resign from my position as a security guard. In keeping with the terms of my contract, please consider this letter as a two weeks notice of my intention to leave. April 8 will be my last working day.

I cannot write the words that will explain how grateful I am for the experience that you have provided to me over the 15 years. However, due to my dwindling health, I can no longer meet the demands of this very challenging job. A security guard has to be alert and on his feet at all times, which I am finding quite difficult to do.

I find myself hoping that I have returned the favor somewhat. I will be in touch with you regarding my resignation documents and financial settlements soon and discuss if there is anything that you would like me to do in order to help you train my replacement.

Sincerely,

Carl Rural
