What inspired you to take up a career as a file clerk?
I have always been an extremely organized individual. Although this skill seems obvious in many roles, it is one of the most difficult to master.
And since I had mastered it completely, I decided to peruse a career in a role that would do justice to what I knew and could contribute.
As a file clerk, what have been some of your main duties?
I have worked as a file clerk for 6 years now. During this time, my duties included sorting and organizing filing systems, streamlining document management systems, and ensuring that all documents were correctly filed.
Records management is another area that I have worked in. Ensuring retrieval of files and records when requested through appropriate channels is also an area that I have worked in.
What is the one skill that you depend on highly when working in this role?
Working as a file clerk requires an amalgamation of skills. However, if I am to point out one, it would be the ability to organize information in the right way, and at the right time.
What is the most challenging part of working as a file clerk?
The work is challenging on many levels. Again, if I am to pinpoint one, it would be maintaining data integrity.
How do you ensure data integrity?
Since I am a stickler for perfection, I make sure that each item placed into the system is checked twice. This way, there is very little chance of incorrect entries.
Where do you see yourself in 3 years from now?
I hope to have gained sufficient experience and knowledge of filing and record keeping to be able to successfully handle a supervisory role in it.
