A buffet waitress is hired in restaurants, usually fine dining ones, where her primary job is to make sure that the buffet table is set correctly, and that patrons are served according to established food service guidelines

Buffet Waitress Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet customers/patrons as they arrive at the buffet table.

• Provide patrons with information on set dishes, and their ingredients when requested.

• Offer plates to patrons, and assist them in putting food items on them.

• Suggest salads and soups that might complement patrons’ choice of food.

• Assist patrons in taking their food plates to their tables.

• Provide spoons, forks, and knives particular to the type of food that patrons are about to partake.

• Offer drinks such as beverages, juices, and the smoothie that may not be part of the buffet spread.

• Refill water glasses, and indulge in suggestive selling techniques by providing information of additional menu items.

• Present bills/checks to patrons, and ensure that change and receipts are rendered.

• Assist patrons in finding space in the restaurant, and escort them to the exit as they leave.

• Oversee the setup and breakdown of the buffet table, and ensure that dishes are timely replenished.

• Ascertain that all tables and chairs are cleaned properly before new patrons arrive.

• Replace tablecloths, ensuring cleans ones are spread and make sure that condiments are placed on each table.
