When you apply for graduate admission at different colleges and universities, you may receive admission offers from many graduate schools at more or less the same time.

If you get multiple offers, you will need to make a priority list and choose one while sending polite refusal letters to the others.

However, things may not always turn in our favor, and you may have to go back on your decision and ask a previous school (one from which we politely refused an offer) to let you enroll after all.

In such a case, it is important to write a re-application letter to provide the school management with your intentions of joining them after all.

On the other hand, a re-application letter can also be written if you have been refused admission to a graduate school and you want the management to reconsider their decision of not enrolling you.

In this scenario, you may have to be very careful about how you write your letter since you want to change their impression of you.

There is a strong possibility that your application will be reconsidered if you provide them with information that they are looking for specifically.

Dear Mr. Spencer:

I am reapplying for Masters in Environmental Sciences program (MES-202) being offered at the Oregon State University for the fall 2021 term. It was with deepest regrets that I could not accept your invitation previously due to personal obstacles.

Having successfully overcome those obstacles and gained additional experience and exposure to environmental sciences through an internship during this time, I am pleased to reapply.

My activities during the time that I took out between fall 2021 and present, include:

  • An extended internship with Green Peace, USA. Where I assisted with policy-making and implementation.
  • Volunteered with Save the Earth. Where I assisted in designing and developing strategies to keep our local environment clean by engaging other volunteers.

My commitment to creating awareness of environmental problems that our planet is facing and providing logistical support to agencies active in this arena remains a constant goal. I believe that these experiences, along with my bachelor’s degree, will help me understand the concepts taught more profoundly.

I have enclosed all documents, including past transcripts, internship letters, and volunteer references with this letter, and have also filled out the online application, the reference number of which is RTR52223.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Jean Berry
