Sample Letter of Interest for Internal Job Posting

Many of us have come across instances when another position within the same company holds interest for us. If there are no rules against applying for a job within your company, then the best way to go about it is to write a letter of interest.

The type of job that you want is actually up to you. You may want to climb the ladder and apply for a higher post or move sideways to a similar one in another department. In either case, you will need to write a letter of interest to express your will to move from your current position. Here is how you can do that.

Employers appreciate applications for a job within the company as hiring people from within a company means that there will be little or no training costs.

Ms. Nina Smith
Manager HR
Cox Communications
2917 Blaine Avenue
Salt Lake City, UT 84712

Dear Ms. Smith:

This is with reference to the email that was issued by the Human Resource Department for a Communications Manager position. I uniquely qualified for this job owing to my previous contributions to the company.

The attached resume outlines an extensive record of achievements and their impact on Cox Communications through my role as a Communications Officer, spanning the previous three years.

As has been noted from the enclosed resume, I have played a major role in increasing the company’s client base and profits.

Furthermore, I am completely familiar with the workings of not only the marketing department of Cox Communications but also with the finance department. This familiarity will save you the time and cost of training a new person for this position.

Cox Communications is now bidding for the ABC project. I am one of the key members of the team that has the responsibility of laying the groundwork – and I believe that I will have more to contribute in a position of higher authority.

To discuss my suitability for a Communications Manager in detail, I would like to meet with you. I will call your office on Wednesday to determine if you have time for a meeting. If you need to reach me, please contact me at my extension 222.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincere regards,

Teresa May
