A first job as a juvenile probation officer may seem exciting, but there will be a lot that you will need to do.

In order to convince the hiring manager that you can do it, you will need to write a cover letter.

In an entry-level juvenile probation officer cover letter, you should focus on what you can offer in terms of background investigations, client interviews, and case monitoring.

If you have had an internship opportunity in this regard, do not be shy in mentioning it. In fact, make sure that you build upon this short but meaningful experience in a juvenile probation capacity.

Specifically, your skills in handling case management, referrals, and recommendations must be highlighted in your cover letter.

Also, it is important to know how to handle crises if and when they occur.

Mr. Anthony Carter
Human Resources Manager
Florida Detention Center
948 4th Avenue
Epping, NH 72084

Dear Mr. Carter:

I have recently finished my degree in criminal justice. During the program, I was required to obtain an externship in a juvenile detention center, where my interest in this arena was piqued. At this point in time, I would like to work as a juvenile probation officer at Florida Detention Center, as I am sure that I fit the bill completely. Please refer to the enclosed resume for details on my candidature.

Conducting background investigations through interviewing clients and their families is one of my strongest points. I am also competent in reviewing documentation such as police reports, court transcripts, and criminal records in order to determine case details.

Creating and maintaining amicable relationships with clients so as to build their trust is another area that I am qualified for. Additionally, I possess demonstrated expertise in assisting clients with referrals, such as counseling, treatment, and work obtainment. Specifically, I am skilled in preparing written assessments and recommending actions to the court, based on individual client needs.

It would be a great pleasure to meet with you in person, in order to provide you with a more detailed view of my suitability as a juvenile probation officer. I will remain in touch. If you need to reach me, please call at (000) 384-1009.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

David Thomas
