As every employer has a unique questioning style and a different version of required qualifications for a construction laborer position, every interview is different from another.
The question arises, is it even possible to prepare for an interview?

2. Why did you choose this profession?
I like physical challenges, and this job demands to work at unique sites, on heights, in depths, and above all, it allows me to work with the latest construction machinery which I immensely enjoy.
3. Describe what you do at the start of a typical workday.
The interviewer is looking for what you know about the beginning of a day in construction by asking this question.
Depending on what my specific work orders are, I begin by clearing the site that I have been instructed to work on. Then I make sure that I have all the materials and tools that I need to begin my work.
4. Have you ever been injured on the job? Describe what you would do differently if you found yourself in a similar situation.
Be careful! The interviewer wants to know how well you handled an adverse situation.
There was a time when I thought that I could apply cement at 500 feet above the ground without wearing a harness. I fell to the floor and injured my back and was incapacitated for three months. The next few times I have had to work at that height, I have never ignored wearing a harness!
5. When you leave work at the end of a shift, what is on your checklist?
Another question that will tell the interviewer how responsible you are!
I refer to my work order to ensure that I have done all that I was supposed to do. I also make sure that I have cleaned my tools and any equipment that I have used during the day and put them away in a safe place. Additionally, I ensure that all leftover material is appropriately stored to use the next day.
6. Give an example of when you had to work with little or no direction.
The interviewer is looking for signs of you taking charge by asking this question!
Three years ago, my supervisor had taken time off due to an accident on the road. I was left in charge. There was a particular way that scaffolding had to be set up that the team had not done before. I took a week to research it and made a mini scaffolding model to practice it. Once we had this perfected, we managed to do the real thing without any hitches!
7. What do you know about OSHA?
OSHA stands for occupational safety and health administration. It is a federal authority responsible for implementing occupational health and safety legislation.
8. What are some of your strengths as a construction laborer?
I am well versed in all tasks required for general construction from digging trenches to fine fitting installations. Moreover, I am exceptionally talented in concrete foundations and laser operations.
9. What safe practices a construction laborer needs to demonstrate while at work?
Usage of personal protective gear and equipment, keeping the work area clutter-free, paying special attention to precautions that come with construction materials, and practicing safe lifting techniques.
10. Did you face an accident while at work? What do you think you could have done differently to avoid it?
I was working at a renovation site, the second floor, standing on a suspended wooden plank when it started to rain and the plank got slippery, and I fell pretty bad. On the first drop of rain, I should have immediately paused work, reached anti-slip sticking for the plank, and then resumed work. Consequently, I am very conscious about adhering the safety practices at work.
