1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.

2. What duties have you performed in the role of a beautician?

As a beautician, I have performed many services such as appointment scheduling, and follow-up. Specifically, my work duties include greeting clients and inquiring about their specific service requirements. Suggesting the right hair and skincare treatments after assessing their needs is another part of my work. Providing services such as manicures and pedicures, haircuts and styles, and massages are also part of my work.

3. Tell me a little about your skills and abilities.

I am a highly-skilled beautician, who ensures client satisfaction at all times. Specifically, my skills include perfect knowledge of all salon services, the ability to apply makeup on models and brides, and do makeovers for parties. Apart from this, I am well-versed in cross-selling salon products and educating clients on how to use them.

4. What do you like most about your work?

I love the fact that working on each individual client is a challenge within itself. Since all clients have different needs, one gets to learn so much.

5. How do you handle demanding clients?

While beauticians work very hard to ensure client satisfaction, it is not always possible to make all clients happy. As far as irate clients are concerned, I am trained not to react negatively. I try to resolve their problems as best as I can, without losing their business.

6. What is your biggest achievement?

My biggest achievement is increasing the number of clients for my present place of work, by introducing a herbal massage.

7. What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is my ability to give my work my best, even when the going gets tough.

8. What is your biggest weakness?

I do not take many breaks which is not a good idea when you are working in personal services. I am working on not being such a perfectionist, and to take regular breaks to rejuvenate.

9. How do you handle stress at the workplace?

When one is as organized as I am, stress is not something that one comes across much. On the rare occasions that I do have to deal with stress, I take a step back and reflect on what I have to do. That always helps me in making a plan to work stress-free.

10. What is your ideal work environment?

My ideal work environment is one in which everyone does what they are supposed to be doing. When the organization is not given priority, work environments become difficult to handle.

11. Do you have any experience in cross-selling?

Yes, I have tons of experience in cross-selling. I always manage to sell at least one item to clients on every visit.

12. If you were asked to do something which is not part of your original job description, how would you react?

I do not mind going the extra mile to work on things that are not part of my job description – as long as I can do them, and they are legal!

13. How do you handle adversity from coworkers?

I am a very easygoing person, who does not attract adversity. If something adverse does happen, my method to handle is to keep my head down and move on.

14. What is the most difficult part of working in a service-based industry?

Working in a service-based industry is challenging on many levels. What I find most challenging is ensuring customer service continuously.

15. How do you ensure a high level of customer service?

I believe that in order to ensure customer satisfaction, you have to start right from the very beginning. If you understand clients’ needs perfectly, there is no way that you cannot guarantee satisfaction.

16. Why do you want to leave your current job?

I feel that I need to learn more than I am learning at my present place of work. The work is amazing, and so are the people. However, I feel a bit stagnated because there is no going up from where I stand.

17. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I have a dream which is to run my own salon. I am not sure about the next 5 years, but that is what I eventually want to do.

I am interested in knowing more about the in-house training processes that each beautician has to go through at your salon.
