CAD Design Engineer Job Description
CAD design engineers develop layouts of buildings and other construction projects by using computer-aided software applications such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
They design prototypes upon which actual projects are built and also plan the actual frameworks that a project needs.
Once a CAD design engineer has conferred with a client and understood his requirements, he defines and maintains developmental methodologies which will eventually give way to a construction project.
He creates designs of floors and elevations in 2D and 3D and asks clients for their approval. Once a design has been approved, he gives the go-ahead for a building project to commence.
Position Requirements
To work as a CAD design engineer, you need to have a strong background in surface and solid modeling technologies.
For this, you will need to be certified as a CAD design engineer once you have obtained a college degree in engineering.
Technical capacity, communications proficiency, collaboration skills, and analytic abilities are prerequisite of working as a CAD design engineer. You will need to be knowledgeable about CAD equipment and possess the ability to supervise drafters and guide their workflow.
As a CAD design engineer, you will be working directly with clients so you will need to be a good listener – after all, if you do not listen to the clients’ instructions carefully, you will not be able to devise a good CAD plan for them.
