Photographer Cover Letter With No Experience (Entry Level)

Updated on: February 18, 2020
If you are an entry-level photographer with no experience in hand, then you will need to write a compelling cover letter and resume to apply for the job.

Do you need the experience to become a photographer?

Photographers do not need to be experienced to be considered for a position. If you have the creativity, you can apply for a photographer position even if you are inexperienced. However, you do have to write a cover letter to impress the hiring manager that you are the best candidate.

What to write in an entry-level photographer cover letter?

In your cover letter for a photographer position, concentrate on your knowledge of using photography equipment.

Also, mention that you possess the right skill set to do justice to the work, including the ability to set up equipment and props, and shoot sequences and stills.

Since a hiring manager will look for an individual with excellent photography skills, you have to highlight that you can take shots, and perform post-production tasks as well.

In addition, your knowledge of communicating with photographic subjects to ensure that they remain at ease must be emphasized in your cover letter.

Mr. James Tuller
Human Resources Manager
Lifetouch National
249 Saint Road
Trenton, NJ 13921

Dear Mr. Tuller:

I am writing to express my interest in a photographer position at Lifetouch National. I am an associate’s degree holder in Multimedia, Photography, and Design from Trenton Creative College, specializing in the stills. I come from a solid background with a strong interest in capturing quality photographs of both still objects, and people.

Throughout the course of my degree, I picked up photography projects to ensure that I obtained as much exposure as possible. I gained solid skills in determining brand quality standards for photography by creating style guides as well. Moreover, because of my inherent interest in this work, I managed to stand on top of my class for 2 years in a row, earning great commendation from my instructors.

Some of the main skills that I offer as a photographer include:

  • Taking memorable pictures, both indoors and outdoors
  • Working with clients in order to discuss the required images
  • Carrying out appropriate research and preparation for each shoot
  • Working in different locations and circumstances

To date, my exposure and learning in photography, and post-production has been extremely rewarding and productive. I would appreciate the opportunity to interview with you. Please find enclosed my resume for your review. I can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at (000) 125-9354. I enthusiastically look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Chad Miner
