1. Tell me a little about yourself.
Well, first of all, thank you for interviewing me for the content writer position today. I started content writing as a hobby 10 years ago but soon realized that it was more than just that. Apart from writing for myself, I have written for many projects over the last few years, and I am considered one of the best writers in the area.
2. What duties have you performed in the role of a content writer in the past?
As a content writer, my primary duty is to determine what my clients want me to write. So, I interview them to determine their specific requirements and then present them with a plan. Afterward, it is my duty to come up with a compelling writing plan, after which I begin writing. Editing and proofreading are also part of my work, as is researching different topics depending on the kind of writing project I have been assigned.
3. What are your specific content writing skills?
I believe that my most profound content writing skills include my ability to research effectively and work in accordance with client’s requirements. I am imaginative and can write in a fun and engaging manner. Moreover, I am well-versed in proofreading and editing content provided to me.
4. What do you like most about content writing work?
What I like most about content writing is that it is an ever-changing job. You get to work on different things constantly, and you never get bored.
5. What do you dislike about content writing work?
I love writing so much that I cannot think of a single thing that I dislike about it.
6. How do you handle adversity at the workplace?
Writers are highly sensitive people, which is why adversity of any kind does bother them. However, I am quite open to criticism, and if I find myself in an adverse situation, I do not become adverse myself. I simply move on.
7. What do you think is the most important part of working as a content writer?
I believe that the most important part of working as a content writer is research without which not much else is possible.
8. How do you handle deadlines in content writing?
I am a deadline-oriented individual who makes sure that time is managed in a way that tight deadlines are never an issue.
9. What do you feel is most challenging about working as a content writer?
I feel that working on a writing project where you vehemently disagree with another person involved in it is quite challenging.
10. How do you handle such a situation?
I make sure that I come to a mutual agreement with the other person so that both of us can go ahead with the project without delaying it.
11. What do you think is most important when researching a subject to write about?
I am of the opinion that fact-checking is most important when you are performing research. This is because if you don’t check facts, you are passing on incorrect and often harmful information to the masses.
12. Have you ever written anything before checking for facts?
Never. I have made it a habit to research a topic properly before I write anything.
13. What kind of writing are you most interested in?
I love fictional writing where I find myself to be the best at articulating information.
14. What kind of content writing do you not like?
As a content writer, I like all kinds of writing, as I appreciate the thought and effort that goes into writing any content.
15. What is your biggest strength as a content writer?
I believe that my biggest strength is my ability to write on any topic without finding it difficult.
16. What is your biggest weakness as a content writer?
I feel that my biggest weakness is my inability to stop my research work even when I know that I am done.
17. How do you handle this problem?
I have recently made a checklist for myself which I use to tick off all the stuff that I genuinely need in order to ensure that my research is complete.
18. Describe your ideal work environment.
My ideal work environment is where I can work in peace. The only interruption that I like when working is when someone has something constructive to add.
19. Have you ever worked in an ideal environment?
No. I feel that ideal environments do not exist. In fact, one has to work in near-ideal environments and still come out on top.
20. What motivates you?
I am motivated by many things. For instance, the feeling of having performed well motivates me. And it is quite encouraging for me to work on something that I love.
21. What are you most passionate about?
I am highly passionate about learning new things. For me, learning is a great move forward, which is the main reason that I am passionate about it.
22. What do you think makes you unique?
I feel that I am a unique individual because of my positive and vast take on all matters in the world. I am not judgmental which is why it is easy for me to work on different topics and subjects.
23. Why do you want to leave your current job?
I do not have any problems at my current workplace, except for the fact that I want to take on new challenges. The projects that I am working on are great but they do not provide room for learning more, which is why I want to move on.
24. Why do you want to work here specifically?
I feel that I can make a valuable addition to your team of content writers. This is because I have the necessary exposure to this work, and can effectively work in an imaginative, and creative manner.
25. Can you tell us of a difficult situation, and how you overcame it?
Yes, I was working on a freelance project recently, which required me to edit a biography of a famous Hollywood actor. During the course of my editing work, I felt that I had read the content elsewhere as well. This led me to research my suspicion, which in turn led to discovering that the book that I was editing was a product of plagiarism.
I pointed this out to the writer who was not too moved about it and told me to just do what I was being paid for. I do not work on plagiarized content, and I told him as much. It was a difficult decision for me to leave that project because the monetary benefit was amazing, but I had no choice but to give it up.
26. What did you like most about your last position?
I loved the fact that I could work on varying projects, even if they were within the same format.
27. How do you handle stress?
Stress is something that one has to contend with when working in a deadline-oriented environment. My main coping mechanism is listening to music when I work, which takes the edge off.
28. What is your greatest accomplishment as a content writer?
Co-authoring a book about a civil war is probably my greatest accomplishment to date.
29. How do you define success?
For me, success is working continuously on a writing project that makes sense to the world.
30. Would you ever lie for the organization you were working for?
Actually no. I feel that lying, no matter how small a lie, is wrong.
31. Describe a time when you went out of your way to do something for the company you were working for?
I feel that going the extra mile should not be an issue for anyone. I have done it many times, including the recent incident when I helped my boss work on a content writing project which was not part of my work.
32. If we decide to hire you, when can you join us?
I am presently serving my notice at my place of work, which ends in 12 days. I can join you right after that.
33. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself writing a fictional book on space.
