Restaurant Waitress Cover Letter Example

Updated on: July 4, 2016

Cover letters are not what they used to be. Better or worse now? That is probably relative. Cover letters of the yore were straightforward and simple, providing the reader with a comprehensive overview of an applicant’s abilities. Now they are more complicated in the sense that there is a lot of flowery language to woo the reader. Earlier, cover letters could be a reiteration of a corresponding resume. Now, a reiteration is considered a great job application sin.

Situations have changed and with them, so have the needs of employers. They do not want simplicity – except maybe in language – as simple things often don’t make an impact. And a good impression is needed nowadays to separate the would-be cover letters from the could-be ones. By good impression, we mean that one needs to come across as someone who cannot just do the job but is also a star in every other manner, including handling problems when they are most difficult to handle. While you cannot write this in your cover letter, you need to be able to show that you are indeed this capable. See what we mean by complications?

Nonetheless, cover letters of now must be written following deep research. Here is a sample cover letter for restaurant waitress resume.

Mr. Gregory Ball
Human Resources Manager
The Harper Resort
895 6th Street S

Dear Mr. Ball:

If you are interested in doubling your customer base without any advertising cost, you should hire me to work as a Waitress at The Harper Resort! My claims are certainly not hollow as I have done this in the past. Through exceptional hospitality and customer services, I increased the customer base of Marco Polo from 1500 to 3000 in 6 months!

As a service-oriented waitress who has had considerable experience in working for high-end restaurants, I feel confident that I will become an asset to your restaurant. At ABC Restaurant, I contributed to the restaurant’s menu development activities, suggesting incorporation of a section for health-conscious clients. This alone led to a 50% increase in interest from customers who were patrons at a rival restaurant!

Customers whom I serve, always go home happy, since I am always pleasant and friendly with them. With a record of 10/10 of return business, I am definitely a strong contender for a waitress job at The Harper Resort. I will call you soon to provide more details of my talents and, possibly, to set up an interview date and time. If you need to reach me in the interim, please call me at (000) 968-7474.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

(Signature)
