1. Tell me about yourself.

I am a results-oriented school superintendent with 10+ years of experience in hand. Prior to this, I was a principal in one of the schools of the same district. Education is a way of life for me. I have many accomplishments to show in this role, over the years that I have spent working in education.

2. What duties have you performed in the role of a school superintendent?

As a school superintendent, I have performed many tasks, including developing and implementing educational programs and performing teacher training activities. Also, I have been responsible for overseeing school budgets and assessing student performance and achievements. Moreover, my work involves administering schools in conformity with adopted policies of the board, and the rules and regulations of the state.

3. What skills do you possess, which make you an excellent school superintendent to hire?

I am well-versed in many areas, including student and teacher assessment, and evaluating curriculum and educational programs. I possess demonstrated expertise in creating and implementing operational budgets and reviewing and revising academic policies.

4. Why do you want to work for this particular school district?

I feel that I have a lot to contribute to this particular school district, as I have worked for it for many years. I am aware of the shortcomings of the district and possess great insight into fixing it.

5. How well do you work in a challenging environment?

I work extremely well in a challenging environment. In fact, challenges make me work harder, as I am focused on achieving the best.

6. How well do you work with people?

Working in a school environment means that you have to work with people constantly. And I have a great talent for working with people in a cooperative manner.

7. As far as the school curriculum is concerned, what has been your involvement in it?

I have been actively involved in creating and implementing the curriculum for all schools in my district. Making modifications to curriculums and assisting with lesson planning is a great skill that I possess.

8. How do you handle conflict?

I am excellent at handling conflict as I look deep into the situation before trying to resolve it. I do not take sides and ensure that problems are resolved before they convert into crisis situations.

9. What is the most difficult thing that you had to handle as a school superintendent?

I wouldn’t call it the most difficult thing, but it was certainly challenging. One of the principals of a district school wanted to leave mid-year, which could have been disastrous for the school. It took all that I had to convince her to stay until the end so that the school year could be completed without any hiccups.

10. What is your greatest weakness?

My greatest weakness is my inability to be harsh with anyone. While I am firm, it takes quite a lot for me to reprimand my staff.

11. What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is my insightfulness, which helps me immensely in handling strategizing work.

12. How do you feel about working in an environment that places a lot of responsibility on you?

I don’t mind working in such an environment. Responsibility has never been a problem for me. I take it in stride and work hard to fulfill it as best as I can.

13. What experience do you have in dealing with students and parents?

I am highly experienced in dealing with students and parents since it is all in a day’s work for me. Since I have an open-door policy, parents and students can simply walk in and discuss their issues.

14. In your opinion, to what extent should you be involved in the functions of the business office?

Unless I am really needed, I don’t think I need to be involved in the functions of a business office. I do not like to micromanage, which is why I keep to myself and let them work.

15. Do you believe that the same code of ethics should apply to both staff and students?

Yes. I feel that everyone in an organization needs to be on the same page, and be treated equally too. If I have different codes of ethics for different groups, things are bound to go wrong.

16. How do you think schools improve?

I feel that schools improve most when they are rewarded for their achievements. High-performing schools should always be praised, and given extra help to perform even better.

17. How about low-performing schools?

Low performing schools need great evaluation and assistance. I always make sure that I encourage low-performing school staff members so that they can do their absolute best.

18.  What is your philosophy on delegating authority?

As I am not a micromanager, I believe in delegating authority to the right people and then waiting for results. Sometimes, I have to intervene to determine if the work is being done properly or not.

19. Tell us how you motivate yourself?

I do not need to motivate myself too much, as I am in a constant state of motivation. I love my work, which makes it easy for me to stay encouraged.

20. What are your plans for the next five years?

I intend to overhaul all schools within the school district within the next five years.

I am interested in knowing more about the board’s policies and regulations regarding curriculum development and implementation.
