Thank You Email to Boss for Promotion

Updated on: June 13, 2019

Thank you letters, emails, and notes are a great way of showing positive reception for almost anything in the professional world.

If you have been promoted recently, it is a business norm to write an email to your boss and thank him for making it happen.

Mostly, a thank you email for promotion is polite but not very formal.

While you need to keep a thank you email within professional parameters, it is alright to be a little personal and express your feelings.

Email Subject: Thank You Very Much

Dear Mr. Patterson:

Please accept my sincere thanks for promoting me as Senior Administrative Assistant at Mount Herman Association. It gives me great pleasure to work at this position, and I am even more motivated to take the company’s promotional projects to new heights now.

The past five years working under your supervision have been nothing less than amazing. You have taught me most of what I know, and I attribute the onset of this promotion due to your training these past years and your faith in my ability to handle this work. I understand that you had to go to bat for me with the higher management and mere words cannot explain how much I appreciate your effort.

I know that the challenges that I will now face will be much more complicated than they have ever been in the past, but I assure you that I will work hard to handle them the way you would want me to. Your advice and direction have always been a great support, and I will bank on these in the future as well to make success a sure thing.

Thank you for helping me build upon my professional strengths and for providing me with guidance in weak areas. I assure you that I will work with increased concentration and will do my best not to make you regret your decision of recommending me for this promotion.

Once again, thank you very much for my promotion.

Warm Regards,

Fiona May Baltimore
Senior Administrative Assistant
