Attention to Detail in a Sentence for Resume

Updated on: August 24, 2019

The fact that you can pay great attention to detail is amazing.

However, saying it verbatim may not be the right thing to do, especially when you are writing a resume.

It may seem as if writing this will help the hiring manager focus on you as a possible candidate for the job, but it can as easily backfire. Why?

Well, the term attention to detail is quite vague. And vague sentences are not encouraged when you are writing something as important as a resume.

But then, how does one get it across to the hiring manager that one can pay great attention to detail?

There are many ways to do this. You do not actually have to write this phrase – in fact, you can write a great deal of information that points to it.

Simply claiming the fact that you have attention to detail does not send out a strong message. If you do want to use it, you must consider what else you can say in order to augment this information.

Now that we have established that job applicants need to show attention to detail, and not merely write it, let us see how this can be done.

There are many opportunities for you to show this in a resume. The skills, accomplishments, and work experience section all provide you with a chance to show attention to detail, without actually saying it.

For instance, you can say that you are focused and precise, as you care about the quality of the work that you are doing. You can also mention that you are observant – mention experiences that show this.

Each sentence that you write, which is required to show attention to detail, must be carefully worded. You may need to ask yourself the following questions before you do this:

• Did your attention to detail benefit the company in terms of higher profits?

• Were you entrusted with a difficult task because of your ability to work with tiny details?

• Did you receive a promotion because you worked so well on a project?

All this will help you in writing sentences that say that you possess great attention to detail, without actually writing it down.

It is also important to note that you also need to show attention to detail when creating a resume.

Making sure that it is devoid of grammatical and syntax errors is imperative.
