Letters of recommendation are nothing new – they have been around for ages. Even way back when not many people had the luxury of writing with an ink pen, recommendation letters were penned down to provide references to people who have been part of an organization’s workforce. A recommendation letter is a great way of telling a future employer what his future employee is like. In short, it is a letter that highlights an ex-employee’s specific skills and qualifications for a job – from the point of view of an ex-employer.
To be perfectly candid, recommendation letters are not only written by ex-employers. Depending on where a recommendation letter is going to be used, it may be written by a friend or a coworker as well. But since most recommendation letters are written by ex-employers, let’s see what they entail. A recommendation letter written by an ex-employer needs to possess information that will help the employee in gaining another position. This has to be written in good faith, outlining specifically what the individual is good at, and how he will be an asset to the company that he joins.
