LPN Resignation Letter Sample

Updated on: April 11, 2022

Resigning from your position as a licensed practical nurse may not be easy if you are working in a corporate environment.

The reason is simple – you serve many residents, and they expect to see your cheerful face every day.

However, if you have to move to another city, need time to recover from burnout, or have been offered another job that you just cannot refuse, you will have no other choice but to resign.

Since your resignation will be the last impression that you will leave behind, you must make sure that it is a positive that can open doors for reemployment.

Ms. Mila West
Nurse Manager
Lakeview Hospital
456 Sequoia Drive
Auburn, AL 36912

Dear Ms. West:

I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign from my position as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Lakeview Hospital on 2-weeks’ notice. Please note that April 24 will be my last working day.

As you know, I have worked in the geriatric ward for the previous 6 years and have been actively looking after patients with dementia and other challenging conditions. At this point in time, I feel that I need to take a sabbatical from this work as I have been feeling increasingly pressured, both emotionally and physically.

I appreciate both the professional and personal growth opportunities that have been provided to me here and anticipate contact with you in the future as well. I feel fortunate to be a part of your nursing team for 5 years.

Please let me know if you would like me to train someone to take up my duties so that the patients assigned to me are well taken care of. Thank you very much for your ongoing guidance during my tenure at Lakeview Hospital.

Sincerely,
