Resignation letters for the Staff Nurse position are usually deemed a challenging task to do. However, this document is necessary if you want to switch jobs, thinking to study, or want to move due to illness or a family reason.

For the most part, resignation letters need to be written in a polite tone and provide a valid reason for leaving.

Although it is not necessary to give a reason, it strongly recommended justifying your decision to keep the doors open for re-employment.

A staff nurse resignation letter should state a timeline of the period that you intend to stay on and finish off any pending work.

There is no formula that you can follow when writing a resignation letter.

Your reason for leaving, notice period, and a thank you are all that you need to write in a Staff Nurse resignation letter to guarantee acceptance.

Dear Ms. Spencer:

It is with great regret that I am writing this letter to resign from my position as a Staff Nurse for Sacramento Family Hospital. As per the terms of my contract, I am required to provide a two weeks’ notice of my intention to leave. Keeping this in mind, I will continue to work until April 10.

Working at Sacramento Family Hospital helped me tremendously in developing the skills and expertise in the nursing profession. Working under your supervision was more than just a learning experience – in fact, it was the peak time of my career in nursing that I could not have hoped to achieve anywhere else. Please accept a big thanks to your support and the numerous opportunities you have provided me as a staff nurse. I am very grateful for your mentorship.

If you would like me to hand over my tasks and records to another staff nurse, please provide me with specific instructions. Also, if there is any accumulated annual leave that I am entitled to, please let me know when and how I can take benefit of it.
