1. What inspired you to join this business line?

I always liked visiting retail stores. My father was a cashier at Wal-Mart. Later I pursued a career in the same business because I believe work becomes much easier if one does what one loves to do.

2. What were you doing before you became the owner of your own retail store?

I was working as an Assistant Business analyst at Fair Price Cash and Carry before becoming the owner of my own retail store.

3. What makes you suitable for this job?

My experience, formal degree in business, critical thinking skills, and proven ability to upsell products and services qualify me for this job.

4. How did you finance your small business?

I started with a small business loan, most of which is already paid off.

5. How do you decide upon vendors for your business?

Vendors are always decided on tender bidding but they are finalized after service and product quality analysis.

6. Can you mention the main challenges faced by your business during the past year and how did you overcome them?

The past year was post-covid. I believe general customer buying capacity was greatly affected due to the pandemic so we saw a dip in sales. I overcame the issue by announcing weekly deals and discounts on various products.

7. What marketing and analytics software have you been using for your business?

I have been using: Google Analytics, SAP, Lotus, CRM, and Mosaic.

8. What are the main factors to consider if the business is not growing?

Employee behavior, product/service quality, displays, discounted attractions, marketing, and competitive pricing are the main factors to consider if a retail business clientele is not growing.

9. What is the mission statement of your business?

Our focus is on selling organic products and promoting local farmers so our mission is to “Go organic- Live healthily.”

10. What are your responsibilities as a business owner?

As a business owner, I’m responsible for feasibility study, profit loss analysis, employee training and management, marketing, sales supervision, and day-to-day tasks like overseeing displays, inventory management, retention and expansion of client base and payroll processing, etc.
