1. What brought you into the wonderful world of landscape design?
I have always been a nature person and was quite often sad to see the state of affairs of many people’s lawns and green patches. And I decided to do something about it, eventually leading me to train as a landscape designer.
2. What are some of the main duties that you perform in the role of a landscape designer?
As a landscape designer, my first responsibility is to gauge what a client has in mind regarding open spaces. Once I am acquainted with this, I make sure that I survey the land to determine landscaping possibilities. Next, I develop ideas that gel well with the aesthetic sense of the client and finally provide him or her with a landscaping plan.
3. What skills do you think are necessary to possess when working as a landscape designer?
Inarguably, one has to be aesthetically sound. Apart from this, it is important for landscape designers to possess exceptional skills in determining clients’ requirements, effectively managing plan development activities, and having the capacity to execute design plans in an efficient and timely manner.
4. Which project has been your best work so far?
I was given a year to convert an entire outdoor studio into a themed nature park for Star Wars lovers, in time for the movie’s big launch. I managed to do this in 10 months and was commended highly for my efforts. This is by far my best work ever!
5. How do you feel about working in inclement weather conditions?
Working in inclement weather conditions is all part of the game. I love the great outdoors and have no qualms about working in extreme weather conditions.
6. What is the one element that your signature design includes?
I am a great lover of color. All my landscapes boast of color, brought about by flowers, sometimes concentrated in one area, and at times, scattered.
