What duties have you performed in the role of a concrete finisher?

As a concrete finisher, I have been busy doing many things. For instance, smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete and spreading concrete to specified depths and consistencies.

Specifically, I performed the following tasks:

• Leveling and smoothing surfaces of freshly poured concrete
• Shaping concrete by using straightedges and floats
• Rubbing concrete with abrasive stones to smooth it out
• Removing rough or damaged spots from concrete surfaces
• Molding expansion joints and edges
• Breaking up and repairing old concrete surfaces

In your opinion, what skills does one require in order to successfully work as a concrete finisher?

Firstly, knowledge of mixing, pouring, and smoothing concrete is paramount when working as a concrete finisher.

In addition, it is imperative to possess comprehension of finishing wet surfaces to grade on all types of concrete. Similarly, the ability to use tools and equipment is also required.

Moreover, one needs to be able to align and brace portions of project assembly by using bubble levelers, and nails and hammers.

What inherent abilities does one require when working at this position?

I believe that it is important to possess exceptional physical agility. Additionally, the ability to work in extreme weather conditions is also important.

Likewise, it is imperative to display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, as this work is all about teamwork.

What has been the most challenging work that you have had to perform?

As I have been working as a concrete finisher for 6 years, so performed many challenging tasks during this time. Perhaps the most challenging one was when I had to smooth out concrete for 3 different projects simultaneously.

And how did you fare at it?

I managed to come out with flying colors by managing my time effectively. Similarly, by taking required breaks so that I do not crumble under the pressure.

What are your future aspirations?

I am still in the learning phase. Eventually, I would like to work in a managerial capacity.
