People often have their resumes ready to send off as soon as they find an advertisement for a Claims Adjuster job, but writing a cover letter to go with it is sometimes beyond them. Are you one of those people? Well, don’t despair! Here are instructions on how to write one.
First, you need to understand that a claims adjuster cover letter is a critical document, so don’t try to wriggle out of writing one. It is crucial because – through it – you can tell the prospective employer exactly what you can do for them. It will say that your skills set matches their job description and that you will not only maintain the company’s work but take it forward.
Don’t make it too formal, unless you’re applying for a job in banking or government service or another conservative industry. But don’t be too familiar either; the employer needs to know if you can write correctly and if your written communication skills are good enough for him. Never use texting abbreviations as it will send your cover letter speedily to the waste paper bin, and your resume will follow.
So if you shouldn’t do this, what should you do? Let’s take a look at a cover letter that a claims adjuster wrote:

Dear Ms. Arden:
I have been working as a claims adjuster for fourteen years, and in that time I have honed my talents in a variety of job areas to provide excellent claims service according to state regulations. My extreme dedication to the work saved my present company from a claimant who would have walked off with three million dollars if not for the efforts of my team and me!
My forte in the industry is:
• Carrying out thorough but quick investigations of claims to ensure prompt case closure
• Investigating claims with an informed eye to make sure that insurance claims are genuine
• Negotiating with contractors and claimants so that an optimum agreement on rates and claims can be worked out
My unique talent throughout my work life has been that of a mediator, especially in adjudicating the claims of workers according to state regulations. I have therefore become something of an expert in adjudicating between various parties connected to the insurance arena!
I would like to meet with you to discuss how I will be suitable for the claims adjuster job at Sarandon Life Insurance. May I contact you on Monday to find out when you have the time? My number is (000) 101-2222 if you wish to contact me.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
