1. What led you to work as a laundry attendant?
Three years ago, I was doing an internship in a hotel. When I was rotated to the housekeeping department, I realized that my skills were most effective here. Upon further exploration, I realized that I was most efficient in a laundry attendant role. And that is how I ended up working as one for the last 2 years.
2. What duties have you performed in a laundry attendant role in the past?
As a laundry attendant, I have been busy handling many tasks including:
• Collecting and sorting linens and clothes
• Loading soiled and dirty clothes into washing machines
• Setting timers and adding cleaning agents such as washing powder
• Drying laundry items and ironing and folding them
• Labeling folded items and placing them in plastic coverings
• Creating and maintaining an inventory of washed and ironed clothes
• Returning items to guest rooms
3. In your opinion, what is the most challenging part of working as a laundry attendant?
To be honest, the work is pretty straightforward. Challenges are few and far between.
4. What happens if a washing machine breaks down, and you have a lot of laundries to handle?
Breakdowns are problematic. However, I have 2 backup washing machines that I use when such an event happens. This makes sure that the work is not affected, and that both linen and guests’ clothes are delivered on time.
5. Tell us a little about the skills that you possess in this regard.
Apart from being exceptionally organized, I am well-versed in timely collecting and delivering linen, and ensuring that they are properly cleaned, dried, and packed.
Specifically, I am well-versed in the following areas:

• Machine Operations

• Backup Management
6. In your opinion, where do you stand on a scale of 1 to 10, if 10 is the highest?
I am excellent at what I do. This confidence comes from years of working in this capacity. I would give myself a realistic 9.
7. What are your career plans for the near future?
I would eventually like to work as a housekeeping manager, with laundry management as only one part of my oversight work.
