Do I need to inform employer two weeks before leaving?

Well, if you work in the United States or Canada, the answer depends on the terms and conditions written in your employment contract.

In many cases, you do not need to give a 2 weeks notice of resignation except you are working under a contract that demands it. In the absence of a written job contract between you and employer, your service is presumed to be voluntary and indistinct for both you and employer.

Tips and Techniques

In your resignation letter, you should emphasize positive things and mention how the organization has benefited you professionally. Also, mention your last date of work. Offer any kind of assistance during the changeover and afterwards. Don’t be pessimistic. There’s no point to show aggressive behavior – you’re going to departure and you should leave gracefully.
