A tour guide’s interview process will focus on an individual’s knowledge of the work and interest in it.

Since one cannot work as a tour guide if one is not particularly interested, the latter is very important.

 

 

As important is to make sure that you respond to questions in sync with the information that you have provided in your resume and cover letter.

Why did you choose to work as a tour guide?

I firmly believe that one should only work in a capacity that one truly enjoys. Since I love history and sightseeing, there was no other career that I found better than this one. And it is worth it every single day!

In your role as a tour guide, what duties have you performed?

I have worked as a tour guide for 6 years now. During this time, I have handled many tasks, such as creating tour schedules, assembling tour participants, and providing them with tour information and logistics. Besides, my work has involved leading tourist groups on sightseeing tours in and around the city.

What do you feel is most important when determining a tour?

The general requirements of all tourist groups need to be taken into account primarily. Then, it is important to figure out what the majority is looking for in terms of absorbing culture and history. An amalgamation of all this is what makes a successful tour.

What do you find most challenging about the work?

Working as a tour guide can be somewhat challenging at times. However, there is no single area that I feel is more challenging than another.

Tell us of your most significant accomplishment.

Since I have worked in a tour guide capacity for so long, I have many accomplishments to my name. However, if you want me to pinpoint just one, it has to be the fact that I am the only tour guide in Hilo, HI, who has a 10,000+ tourist following, making me number one in the area.

What are your future aspirations?

At this point, I am content with what I am doing. There is so much that I still have to learn. And there is a lot that I need to explore. Eventually, I would like to have my own tour company.
