Sample Letter of Intent for Summer School Teacher Position

Written for different purposes, letters of intent have different formats. 

For a summer school teacher, a letter of intent is not much different than a typical letter of interest or a cover letter.

Mostly, letters of intent are written in situations when a job is not advertised.

A letter of this kind explores interest with an organization – a job may be available and you might have found out by chance or one might be made for you if the employer thinks you are worthy.

Typically, letters of intent are sketchy in nature i.e. a little more detailed than cover letters.

They don’t have a cork on them that puts them in a box dictating word count, written to find out upcoming opportunities, and include a few paragraphs about applicants’ abilities to do the job well.

The content of a letter should outline the applicant’s credentials and special skills. The letter should be addressed to a specific individual and should reflect on how the employer can reach the applicant.
