Early retirement from work is something that our employers do not foresee.
If an employee is happy enough in an organization, it is taken for granted that he or she will stay on until something makes him or her unhappy or uncomfortable.
So if you have decided that you want to quit work altogether, it is best to give in your resignation in the form of an early retirement letter.
A letter of this type needs to follow some sort of exit strategy.
Since a retirement letter will be your last impression on an employer, it is important that you make it positive.
When writing your early retirement letter as a teacher, chart out why you feel the need to retire – it could be something complicated like an illness, or something not so much, like a personal choice.
Whatever your reasons are, make sure that you outline them in your letter. Since this will be your final goodbye to your employer, put in some niceties about your time while working at the organization, and beg your leave.
Since a retirement letter is a formal document, make sure that you provide specific details of your decision to leave.
The date which will be your last working day is important. Leave open any future liaison so that a part-time position (if required) can be obtained later.

Dear Mrs. Andrews:
I have provided my services as an English teacher at Resource Alliance for 12 years – since the school’s inception in 2009. Now, I would like to obtain early retirement from this position. I realize that this decision to retire is a little earlier than anticipated, but I feel that I have given the best that I could in these twelve years. Over the years, my health has been somewhat deteriorating, and since teaching is a job that cannot be taken non-seriously, I believe that it is in the best interest of both the school and me to retire at this point in time.
