So you want to write a cover letter. Well, no need to panic. Let’s give you a hand.
Some people find it relatively easy to write cover letters, but to others they are the bane of their existence. Because of this, they often leave out the cover letter when they apply for an APRN position, they just send in their resume and consider the job done. And then they’re surprised and disappointed when they don’t get the interview.
Not writing a cover letter is a very big mistake. Since it is placed above a resume, the hiring manager will read it first. And it is the cover letter that will decide your fate – whether or not the hiring manager will read your resume.
As many job applications come to the hiring manager’s table when a vacancy is advertised, so hiring managers don’t have time to read them all – most of them end up not being read. To make sure this doesn’t happen to your resume, you must do something to arouse the hiring manager’s interest. And that something is your cover letter.
In a cover letter fpr APRN position, you need to highlight your skills, as opposed to a resume in which you highlight the work you’ve done. The resume is about the past, and the cover letter is about the future, because you’re also saying what you can do for the company. How will it grow and develop with you? Can you take it in new directions?
More confident now?
