Real Estate Paralegal Interview Questions and Answers

What is the one thing that brought you into the great big world of law?
Law has always had a great appeal for me, as I have wanted to make a difference for a long time. It was only 4 years ago that I happened to enroll in a degree program, which eventually led me to work in this capacity.

What duties have you performed in the role of a real estate paralegal in the past?
I started working as a paralegal in a real estate capacity, right after I finished my degree. During the year that I have spent working in this capacity, I have been actively performing detailed research and analysis, data collection, and reporting work, along with ensuring that clients and witnesses are handled according to protocol. In addition to this, I have been responsible for reviewing and summarizing title commitments and surveys and preparing and filing a variety of documents such as deeds, mortgages, and financing statements.

What do you find most challenging about working as a paralegal in a real estate capacity?
The work, on the whole, is quite challenging. So it is not just one area that I find challenging. However, challenges are what I thrive on, so I do not have an issue with working in such an environment.

As far as skills are concerned, what abilities do you possess which make you a good contender to hire as a real estate paralegal?
I am a great contender to hire not just because I have a law degree, but because I have been working in a paralegal capacity (within the real estate arena) for a year. This experience has made it easy for me to work in a similar capacity, as I am aware of all the work that a legal firm requires at this level. This includes the ability to handle research and analysis work, knowledge of interviewing clients and witnesses and documenting findings, the capability of drafting plans and documents, and exceptional expertise in filing documents such as deeds, mortgages, and financing statements.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest, where would you rate your abilities as a real estate paralegal?
I would rate myself at a realistic 7, as I have just entered the world of law, and have much to learn.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I would like to work as a partner in a law firm, 5 years from now!
