There is entirely no room for repetition of resume content in a cover letter. Your resume provides all the information that an employer needs to judge your candidature.
You do not need to reiterate the same information in a cover letter. What is a cover letter for then?
Good question. What it is not for is repeating the information that you have already provided in a resume, in a bid to emphasize your suitability for a job. What it is, is a concise, yet detailed description of how you can use the skills that you have mentioned in your resume to benefit the employer.
Cover letters are not the monsters they are made out to be. In fact, they are relatively simple to write. Think of 3 career words that describe you as the perfect candidate and you will be surprised to see how much you can elaborate on them. Elaboration of your skills to do the job required of you is the main idea behind writing a cover letter.
Show off as much as you can about your professional achievements, but know just when to draw a line and stop. Talk about future aspirations but let there be a little suspense about what you can do. Make yourself appear to be someone without whom the company will never reach the heights it is meant to achieve.

Dear Ms. Ryan:
My passion for making my work shining is the sole driving force behind my success as an assistant manager at one of the biggest names in beauty services in Texas – Great Clips. But my aspirations are much higher than my present work allows and hence, I would like to work for Beauty Brands, also one of the giants in providing beauty services.
Please refer to some of my achievements as an assistant salon manager, over the previous two years:
• Successfully captured 20% market share for Great Clips, owing to extensive marketing and promotional activities, based on detailed market trend analysis.
• Decreased overall costs of the salon by creating meaningful professional liaison with local vendors, providing quality beauty products and equipment.
• Increased client base from 2589 to 4552 within the 1st year of employment with the company.
These achievements are indicative of the quality and caliber of my professional career as an assistant salon manager. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to provide you with a broader overview of my abilities and accomplishments. I’ll follow up. In the meantime, you may reach me at (000) 475-7475.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
