Position Overview
It requires a highly skilled individual to work as a boilermaker.
The work of a person at this position involves constructing and assembling steam boilers and aligning structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames.
Boilermakers also have to ensure that they kept boilers clean and maintained at all times.
Position Requirements
To work as a boilermaker, you have to possess a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. No formal education is required. However, you have to make sure that you understand the design and installation processes of boilers if this is the work that you want to do.
Some prior experience in this regard will go a long way in making you an excellent person to hire at this position. It is imperative for people working as Boilermakers to be physically dexterous, and possess the ability to handle a wide variety of tasks at the same time.
The ability to get along with people from different walks of life is also imperative in this work, as is the capability of managing hard physical labor, in extreme weather conditions.

• Design and install boilers used for heating water and for generating electric power.
• Weld sections of boilers together, by using welding machines and systems.
• Study the design of each system, and take measures to create templates for boilers.
• Bend sections of metal into shape to form the outline of boilers.
• Ascertain that all water tubes are correctly attached to the boilers, in addition to the installation of stacks and liners.
• Build tanks and vats used for the chemical storage purposes, and ensure that any spills or leaks are handled according to protocol.
• Use power hammers and weld pressure vessel tubes to supervise leak proofing activities.
• Bolt vessel structures and parts together, by making proper use of wrenches and boiler equipment.
• Examine and inspect boilers, pressure vessels, and tanks to locate defects including leaks and weak spots.

• Install refractory bricks and other heat-resistant materials within pressure vessels.
• Perform both preventative and regular maintenance on boilers, pressure vessels, and components.
