A piping designer is responsible for overseeing and designing the construction of marine crafts and floating structures such as ships, floats, submarines, and tugs.

Piping Designer Qualifications

A piping designer needs a degree in naval engineering or marine architecture. They should be able to understand the way marine vessels work and create and oversee CAD drawings.

Moreover, they have to be exceptionally skilled in preparing preliminary designs, maintaining project documentation, and drawing layouts according to specified instructions.

Therefore, it is imperative for a piping designer to be hands-on in all these areas, and possess the ability to evaluate the performance of crafts during sea and dock trials.

As a piping designer, you will be required to be able to make good use of software such as AutoCAD and CADWorx.

To be considered eligible to work at this position, you will need to be able to respond to technical queries as well, especially as they relate to clients.

• Provide piping design support in addition to routine maintenance and capital installation assistance.

• Create complete design packages that meet safety and design metrics, as well as engineering standards.

• Coordinate with design engineers to determine job scopes while generating packages with their approvals.

• Forecast project completion dates, therefore, provide clients with timeline estimates.

• Perform 3D modeling, to include equipment building, and lines modeling layouts.

• Suggest novel ways and concepts of designing components, and oversee implementation of well-placed designs.
