Claim Adjuster Interview Questions and Answers

As a claims adjuster, what have been your duties in a previous role?
I have been responsible for many tasks while working as a claims adjuster. These include studying claims to determine motivations behind them, looking through claims to determine if there are any discrepancies, interviewing claimants and witnesses, investigating claims to determine their accuracy, and calculating and presenting information regarding payouts to the insurance company.

What skills do you believe are required to work successfully as a claims adjuster?
I am of the opinion that working as a claims adjuster requires an amalgamation of skills. One has to be exceptionally well-versed in determining the motivation behind each received claim and possess the skills to analyze all claims in a proper manner. Moreover, a claims adjuster needs to be a great communicator, as he or she has to communicate with people from different backgrounds. Furthermore, claims adjusters must be exceptionally insightful, as they have to perform many duties of the investigative type.

How do you feel about working in a position that is as challenging as this one?
Challenges are what keep me going. If my work isn’t challenging, it does not bring in a lot of satisfaction. I do not mind challenging work environments one bit – in fact; I look forward to them.

What has been your most challenging case up till now?
I was once assigned a case to investigate, in which everything seemed very much in place. I checked all the incident reports, and medical records, and I could not find anything awry in it. However, my sixth sense kept poking me, telling me that all was not as it should be. One day before the claim was scheduled to be paid out, I managed to unearth a significant problem with the claim – it was a fraudulent claim – and stopped the payment. I believe this was the most challenging case that I have handled up till now.

How do you feel about working in a team environment?
Working as a claims adjuster means that you have to work in a team environment, or risk losing it all. I love working with people, as I get to learn so much from them, and my work becomes easier too!

Where do you see yourself three years from now?
At the moment, I am still learning the ropes. Soon, I expect to climb up the success ladder to the position of a claims analyst.
