My specific expertise lies in planning and laying out work, accurately measuring and cutting materials such as wood, and fiberglass, and building and repairing large wooden structures.
2. What are your preferred tools of the trade?
My preference for which tools to use depends on the type of project that I have been assigned. However, I am well-versed in using a variety of tools including catspaws, utility knives, framing squares, skilsaws, caulking guns, power drills, and jigsaws.
3. What do you believe are the two most important attributes that a journeyman carpenter has to have, to qualify for this position?
The first thing is job knowledge. Knowing your work is extremely important as there is no way that you can work without understanding materials, tools, work processes, and limitations. Secondly, the ability to understand and work according to customers’ requirements is of the utmost importance.
4. Why is physical dexterity so important while working as a journeyman carpenter?
Carpentry is highly physical work and requires a lot of stamina on the workers’ part. One has to work on one’s feet for the most part of the day and carry and move heavy objects over long distances. One has to be physically dexterous if one wants to be successful in meeting deadlines.
