I have very straightforward methods of determining needs. I interview the family first and gain as much information as I can. Then, I engage the client in conversation, and slowly but surely derive information regarding their likes, wants, and personalities.
20. How do you help a client maintain dignity?
Personal care is very intrusive. There is a thin line between making a client feel vulnerable, and feeling embarrassed. My strategy is quite simple. I do not make them feel as if anything personal that I am doing for them is anything to be embarrassed about. I keep making conversation that has nothing to do with the task at hand and lead them through each personal task easily.
21. What is your take on client confidentiality?
I take client confidentiality very seriously. I do not even talk about my clients to my family, as I feel that I will be doing a disservice to them if I divulge any information.

I must say that working with elderly clients is most challenging. But I try my best to understand their positions in life, and then patiently and slowly work with them to ensure that they remain comfortable.
23. How do you handle clients with disabilities?
I have a certain rule – never make a client aware of their disability. While playing it down is not such a great thing, I feel that making it obviously makes it too real for them. So, I remain patient and provide them with as much comfort as I can.

Yes, I work out every day after work to ensure that my physical stamina remains intact.

Where my clients are concerned, I am trained to help them deal with negative emotions by talking them through situations.

I have many ideas to keep my clients entertained, depending on their specific interests. From playing physical games with them, in accordance with their capabilities, to keeping them engaged in the board and word games, I can do it all.

Yes. I can cook nutritious meals for clients, based on their specific requirements. I can prepare and cook food for clients with specific ailments such as diabetes, and high blood pressure. And I can also cook diet and macro-counted food items.

I must admit that it is very difficult for me when a client passes on. Even though I have to show a strong front, I feel quite broken, because, over the days, months, or years, one does develop a solid relationship with clients.
29. What does cleanliness mean to you?
Cleanliness means the world to me. Since I have to make sure that clients remain safe, and in a hygienic setting at all times, I ensure that I clean and sanitize their areas constantly.

I would be patient. I believe that with enough patience and love, you can help clients see what they need to be comfortable, and safe.
