I have been working as a home care aide for 4 years now, and have performed many duties during this time.
Monitoring patients in order to ensure their physical and emotional health and well-being, supporting patients by providing housekeeping and laundry assistance, handling errand running work, and assisting with meals and snacks have all been part of my work.
Additionally, I have been providing personal services such as bathing, grooming, and toileting. Also, my duties have included recording patient information into charts so as to keep proper records.
2. What is the one skill that you believe is most important when working as a home care aide?
To be perfectly honest, one needs an amalgamation of skills in order to work as a home care aide. However, if I have to choose one, it would be the ability to be empathetic towards patients assigned to you.
3. How do you handle the obvious stress associated with this work?
I do not dwell on stress much. I focus on what I have to deliver and work towards achieving that, leaving no space and opportunity to be stressed.
