One of the best ways to increase your chances of staying in focus after an interview for a billing and coding position is to send a thank you letter to the person who interviewed you.

This will ensure that the interviewer remembers you, and of course, it is a polite thing to do.

It is not too complicated to write a thank you letter. You might feel that you do not have a lot to write in it initially.

Let us help you. Reflect on what happened during the interview.

There may have been an instance when you were told something insightful about the billing and coding system of the company that you were being interviewed for.

Take that as a hook. Talk about how much you appreciate the new knowledge that you have gained through the interview.

You can also highlight the fact that you are now even more excited at the prospect of working with the company.

Dear Mr. Rhodes:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time in interviewing me for a billing and coding specialist position at Medical Services Inc. It was an absolute pleasure to have met with you in person, and gained exceptional insight into the work that your organization is doing.

Specifically, I was impressed by the unique billing and coding system that you have implemented. During our conversation, I could not help but feel the urge to learn more about it, and eventually work on it. I would like to reiterate that I have worked on a similar system, and know at least some of what it entails. And since I am have mastered both CPT and ICD codes, I am positive that I will be an asset to your organization on more levels than one.

During the interview, you mentioned that you were looking for someone who would require very little training time. I believe that hiring me will be an excellent idea, as I will not need much in terms of training and induction.

I look forward to meeting with you again. Once again, thank you for taking out the time from a busy schedule to interview me.

Sincerely,

Robert Binder
