Food Bank Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities
• Look through work orders to determine placement and type of food distribution activities that need to be carried out.
• Review lists to determine the number of people enrolled in a food bank program, and acquire information on how to strategize serving them.
• Assist procurement officers in receiving and unloading food packets from delivery trucks, and ensure that they are properly put away in storage areas.
• Ensure that food items are properly rotated so that they remain fresh until the time that they need to be served.
• Welcome participants to the assigned food program and check their names off the provided list.
• Distribute food items to participants accessing the food support program, and take their signatures on receipts.
• Prepare food distribution rooms, and stock and stack items in an orderly manner.
• Maintain food quality through appropriate sorting and communicate any issues to the manager.
• Create and submit reports of all distributed items, and ensure that all interactions with participants are kept confidential.
