Food Bank Volunteer Cover Letter Sample

Updated on: September 11, 2020

A food bank volunteer cover letter has a purpose – to encourage a hiring manager to read your resume, and to provide him or her with information on your skills and qualifications for the job.

If you write a cover letter just because you feel that it needs to be there, and do not understand the purpose, you will end up creating one that won’t have a lot to say.

Food Bank Volunteer cover letter writing is indeed not rocket science, but it can be complicated if you are unclear about how it is supposed to be.

Remember that a cover letter is not an issue to handle if you have done some research. This will include finding out a little bit about the company and the type of people that it hires and cherishes. Usually, the job description in the advertisement that you are responding to will do the job.

Here is a cover letter sample to help you decide what you can write on your own:

Sample Cover Letter for Food Bank Volunteer

Mr. Clarence Fargo
Human Resource Manager
Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities
10 Grand Road
Cannon Beach, OR 55152

Dear Mr. Fargo:

The world’s hunger and nutrition problems are getting worse day by day, and I have been doing my bit to alleviate it through volunteering for all food programs that I find out about. Recently, I came across your advertisement for an open volunteer position at Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, and I would like to offer my services in this regard.

While working as a volunteer for City Church, I learned much about receiving and storing donated food items, stocking shelves with food items, managing food rotation activities, reaching out to participants of the food program to provide them with food items, and ensuring that all activities were documented properly.

My communication skills are superb, which allows me to liaise with people from different backgrounds properly, and I am trilingual (English, Spanish, and French), which makes it easy for me to communicate with people from different backgrounds. In addition to this, I am well-versed in preparing food bags according to the provided instructions, performing soup kitchen activities, and assisting with related fundraising work.

During a meeting between us, I will be able to highlight further what my skills in a food bank volunteer position is, to arrange which, I will call your office soon. In the meantime, please feel free to call me.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Sadie Abram
