Manufacturing Production Manager Job Description

Position Overview

A manufacturing production manager is hired primarily to provide oversight and leadership to the production department of a company. People hired for this position are required to possess great leadership skills, with a great ability to focus on ensuring that deadlines are met properly.

Position Requirements

Typically, a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is required if you want to work as a manufacturing production manager. If you have worked your way up in this regard, you will probably be in a better position to understand and appreciate the work.

Hands-on production abilities, capability of handling production problems and bottlenecks, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are some of the prerequisites of working at this position. Knowledge of and experience in ensuring that appropriate safety measures are implemented to ensure workplace safety are also necessary if you want to work at this position.

In addition to this, it is imperative to be able to champion a continuous improvement culture, ensuring that all team members are properly engaged and responsible for their work.


Manufacturing Production Manager Duties and Responsibilities


• Create and implement production schedules according to specifications provided for each production project

• Create estimates and prepare budgets for each manufacturing project and ensure that all estimates are approved by the management

• Ascertain that workflow is properly organized so that specifications, timelines, and deadlines are effectively met

• Provide oversight to the production cycle, ensuring that all logistics are properly and timely managed

• Supervise and evaluate the performance of production workers, ensuring that quality standards are met

• Determine the amount and type of resources required such as workforce and raw materials, for each assigned production project

• Schedule and oversee both regular and preventative maintenance on production machines, to ensure minimum downtime

• Resolve issues with production cycles, to ensure that work processes are not interrupted for long periods of time

• Create and implement health and safety protocols, and ensure that all production workers and support staff members follow them

• Review production schedules on a regular basis, and adjust them according to additional requirements

• Monitor quality standards for all manufactured products and items, and ensure that low quality issues are addressed in an immediate manner
