Assistant Swim Instructor Interview Questions and Answers

When appearing for an interview for an assistant swim instructor position, make sure that you are ready to give answers to difficult questions.

You will need to know what the work is all about – previous experience in this regard will be a great helper.

 

If you haven’t worked in a similar capacity before, you must show the interviewer that you are still a good person to consider.

Typically, your knowledge of imparting swimming lessons to students will be tested.

And you will also be tested on your ability to handle swimming emergencies. Remember to brush up on your knowledge of providing First Aid and CPR.

Why did you choose to work as an assistant swim instructor?

I have always loved water sports. And I realized my swimming potential at a very young age. Since then, I had been aspiring to work in a capacity where I could transfer my love for the sport to other people.

What skills do you possess which make you an excellent person to hire as an assistant swim instructor?

I know my work inside out. Creating and implementing strategies to teach students with different abilities and learning levels is my forte. Also, I am talented in providing instruction to students in a fun and engaging manner, which ensures that they remain motivated and encouraged to learn.

What type of students are you most comfortable teaching?

I have taught preschoolers, young adults, and adults which means that I am comfortable in teaching swimming to all age groups.

Tell us a little about your duties in this role.

I have been following set instructional plans in order to teach students the art of swimming. Specifically, my duties have included imparting lesson plans, teaching techniques, and ensuring that students perform those techniques in order to learn the sport.

Ensuring student safety and wellbeing has also been part of my work. Assessing students in order to ensure that they are learning properly is also an area that I have been active in.

What makes this work worth your while?

The fact that I get to transfer my skill to other people is a strong motivator.

What do you plan to do in the future?

Very soon, I hope to be able to work in a lead swim instructor capacity.
