Unarmed Security Officer Interview Questions and Answers

How do you feel about guns and other weapons that are necessary to carry out law and order?
I am not very fond of any weapon that can be used for destruction. As far as law and order is concerned, guns and tasers are the norm nowadays and while they may be used in self-defense, I believe that it is best to try to work without them.

Why did you choose to work as an unarmed security officer?
I wanted to work in law enforcement as I wanted to make a positive contribution to the society. And since I am not too fond of weapons, it only made sense that I applied for a job as an unarmed security officer.

Have you ever been in a situation when you wished that you had a gun and could use it to ward off potential danger?
I was once employed by a recreational park, where my prime duty was to assist people with directions and ensure their physical security. I saw a child playing by herself and was about to approach her to ask where her parents were when a man rushed towards her, picked her up and ran. She screamed for her mother all through which assured me that this was a case of kidnapping. I ran after him and while he had had a head-start, he had to stop when the child bit him. Had this not happened, I wouldn’t have been able to catch up and save her. I really did wish I had a gun with me at that time so that I had more power over him.

What are your prime duties as an unarmed security officer?
Over the course of the 4 years that I have worked as an unarmed security officer, I have been assigned to work in many different places, including parks and government properties. My main work has been patrolling the premises, ensuring that the property and its inhabitants are secure, making notes of any problems and addressing those problems immediately, and assisting visitors with directions and any problems they may be facing.

What skills do you possess that make you an excellent contender to work at this position?
I have great analytic abilities which make it easy for me to judge circumstances and intervene when necessary. Possessing an organized mind and the physical agility to handle problematic situations is my niche. Also, I am exceptionally customer-service oriented and can work calmly and diligently in adverse situations.

If you were given a choice, would you want to pick up another profession?
No. I love my work as an unarmed security officer and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
