For some people, sending in design-dependent cover letters is an all-time high.
For most employers, it is a complete downer. Remember that unless you have been specifically asked to send in a “colorful” cover letter, don’t do it!
Since most cover letters go through the system, the fonts, designs, and colors often get messed up, resulting in a document that is unreadable. Even if they don’t, most employers do not like flowers and hearts on the cover letters they receive!
Writing skimpy, generic cover letters do not take you anywhere. In fact, standardization in cover letter writing is quite a sin.
This is because hiring managers would have seen dozens of the cover letter the likes of which you will send in, and it just does not do them any good. Speaking the right language in a cover letter, and making sure that it is in sync with what the hiring manager wants to read, is the road to success.
