1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I have been working as a breakfast attendant for 2 years in one of the biggest hotels in the city. My interest in the hospitality industry stems from a short internship that I did right after high school. I want to make it big in the food and beverage department of a hotel such as yours.

2. What duties have you performed in a breakfast attendant role?

I have been performing many tasks while working in this role some of which include assisting waiters with taking orders and relaying orders to the kitchen area. In addition, I have been busy preparing drinks such as juices and milkshakes and stocking coffee and juice machines and dispensers. Moreover, my work involves ensuring that breakfast items are constantly replenished, and presented in an appealing manner.

3. Tell me something about the skills that you possess.

I am a highly efficient individual, who makes sure that work is done well and on time. I possess excellent customer service skills, and can effectively multitask. My knowledge of the food and beverage industry is also vast, and I can easily manage large breakfast orders with great efficiency.

4. What do you like most about this work?

I love any type of work that has the capacity to keep me on my toes all the time. Fortunately, working as a breakfast attendant does that.

5. What do you dislike about this work?

I wouldn’t say that I dislike anything about this work. It is something that I chose to do, and I love my work.

6. What is the most challenging part of working as a breakfast attendant?

I feel that handling the buffet table is highly challenging. You have to keep a lookout for empty or near-empty dishes all the time, as they reflect on the overall image of the restaurant or hotel.

7. How do you handle adversity at the workplace?

I do not waste time in fights and altercations. When an adverse situation occurs, I try to resolve it immediately so that it does not affect my work.

8. What is your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is my ability to handle many tasks at the same time while maintaining the quality of all.

9. What is your greatest weakness?

I believe that my greatest weakness is my will to keep going until I drop. I work extra hard even when it is not required.

10. Tell us about your biggest achievement so far.

My present place of work had an odd day once when there were over 100 breakfast guests, and I was the only breakfast
attendant. I managed to handle all guests with great skill, ensuring that not even one was left unserved. It was quite a
harrowing time for me, but in the end, I received a great commendation for my efforts.

11. Tell us of a time when a customer got angry with you.

A guest’s wrath was not actually directed at me, but I ended up being in the line for fire because a fellow breakfast attendant was being chewed out. I intervened to help, as my coworker was literally whimpering with fear. The guest in question was telling her off because she got his order wrong. I apologized, and he started verbally abusing me. I kept my cool. Thankfully, a manager intervened and took matters into her hand.

12. Do you like working solo, or are you okay with being supervised?

I feel that being supervised in a hospitality environment is highly useful, as there are standards to be maintained. I do not mind being supervised as the work requires it.

13. What is your dream job?

My dream job is to work as a restaurant manager, within the best hotel in the state.

14. What is the most useful advice that you have received?

I was once told by my supervisor to keep my head down and keep working when there is adversity. By following this advice, I have seen that the work gets done in a better way, and I don’t have to worry about being part of a messy situation.

15. What would you do if a guest got physical with you in anger?

I would defend myself, but I would not retaliate. I have learned that you cannot fight fire with fire. If such a thing happened, I would do all I can to ensure that both the guest and myself do not get hurt.

16. Have you ever come across a situation where you had to make a difficult decision regarding a colleague?

Yes. A coworker was stealing condiments from the station, and I had no choice but to report her. It became quite messy.

17. If we hire you, when is the earliest that you can join us?

I have to hand in a 30-day notice to my current employer. Once the notice period is over, I can join you.

18. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I see myself working as a restaurant manager.
