Truck drivers who are meticulous at driving fuel trucks are the only ones who are considered for the job.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I started driving trucks about 10 years ago. For the last 5 years, I have been driving fuel trucks. I have driven fuel trucks in both local and interstate capacities.

2. What specific job duties have you performed as a fuel truck driver?

Inspecting fuel trucks prior to and at the end of the shift is just one of the duties that I have performed in this work. I have been busy ensuring that fuel trucks are loaded and unloaded according to safety regulations. In addition, my work included determining short and safe routes and planning them on standard maps, as well as the GPS. Also, I have been busy driving fuel trucks to assigned destinations, ensuring that timeliness was taken into account.

3. Tell me something about your skills.

I am a highly-skilled individual, who has been commended for his work many times. Specifically, my skills include knowledge of properly inspecting assigned trucks to ensure good working order, and assisting in filling them up with fuel that needs to be transported. Also, I am well-versed in using technology to map proper routes to destinations, and can effectively handle issues such as breakdowns. Moreover, I am competent in using automated inventory management systems to confirm that dispatched quantity will fit safely prior to loading.

4. What do you like most about this work?

I love being outdoors, which is one of the main reasons I decided to work as a fuel truck delivery driver. Another thing that I like is that, unlike other jobs, this comes with a lot of challenges, which is just the way I like my work to be.

5. What do you dislike about this work?

Nothing at all. If I disliked my work even a bit, I wouldn’t have been able to do well in it.

6. What is your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is my ability to work on back-to-back shifts, aimed at ensuring that the work gets done.

7. What is your greatest weakness?

I am a people person, which makes it somewhat lonely for me when I have to make long hauls. But since I know that is one of the main requirements of the job, I have started listening to music to while away my time when I am on a job.

8. Have you ever been at the brunt of adversity during your shift?

Adversity is not such a problem when you are working solo. However, I have had a couple of instances when a customer to whom I was delivering fuel got antsy because he had asked for less than what I was delivering. Since I just follow orders, I got him in touch with the dispatcher, and the problem was solved.

9. What is the most important thing to do during a vehicle inspection?

I cannot pinpoint just one thing that is more important than another. Vehicle inspection is the single most important thing when you are working as s fuel truck driver. Every little bit is as important as the other.

10. How do you manage long hours on the road?

Apart from my recent interest in music, I take frequent breaks to ensure that I do not get too tired. Stretching my legs and back often gets me back in shape, so that I can move on to the next leg of the journey.

11. Have you ever been in an accident while delivering fuel?

There was a small incident when a car in the lane next to me lost control and swerved into my lane. Since fuel trucks are driven slow, I managed to slam the breaks and not hit the car. However, I had to re-inspect the entire truck to ensure that the impact of the breaks did not do any damage to the body. I was 2 hours late, but the client was thankfully understanding.

12. What would you do if you were in an accident where there was fuel leakage?

I would immediately leave the vehicle, put up warning signs that are issued to all fuel truck drivers, and call the authorities for help.

13. How would you react if you found that the fuel truck that you are carrying is stowing illegal items?

I would immediately report the incident to the authorities. I have a clean record, and would not want to tarnish it. And loyalty to my employer at this point would mean disloyalty to the rest of the human race.

14. When can you join us if we decide to hire you?

I am in the process of handing in my resignation. As soon as my 30-day notice period is up, I can join your organization.

15. What plans do you have for the next 5 years?

I am hoping to become a fuel truck fleet supervisor, a role that is a dream for me.
