Concrete workers are hired by construction companies, where their main job is to make sure that concrete or cement is properly mixed, spread, and set in assigned places.
These individuals are required to possess exceptional physical grit and strength as the work is difficult, and requires exceptional physical dexterity.
Position Requirements
A high school diploma or a GED equivalent is sufficient to work as a concrete worker.
Prior experience in this regard is considered a plus point – if you have worked in this capacity before, there is a great chance that you will be considered a better candidate to hire, than one who is new to the work.
Another skill that you will need in order to successfully work as a concrete worker includes the ability to use both hand and power tools particular to this work.
High standards of integrity and professionalism are required in this work, and you have to possess strong knowledge of job site safety. Moreover, you will be expected to read and understand blueprints, so that you can determine where and what consistency of concrete is required for each job module.

• Read and comprehend blueprints and building drawings to determine the type and consistency of concrete required.
• Build, erect, and align forms for various concrete structures, by following provided instructions.
• Estimate the quantity of concrete required for each project module, or the entire project.
• Determine appropriate mixes of sand and cement, in the event of hand-mixed concrete.
• Direct workers in cutting, and placing reinforcing wire meshes, and preparing appropriate mixtures.
• Perform floating, troweling, edging, and brushing activities to hand fine finishing work.
