This includes making sure that staff members are properly allocated, their duties are appropriately assigned, overseeing that staff members follow rules and protocols, handling inventory and supplier relations, and making sure that the overall cleanliness and sanitation standards of the hospital are properly maintained.
What skills do you think one needs to work in this role?
I believe that working as a hospital housekeeping supervisor is a lot of responsibility, which requires much in terms of leadership qualities. In addition to this, it is imperative for people working in this capacity to possess exceptional patience, knowledge of hospital cleaning and disinfection procedures, and proven ability to work on one’s feet at all times.
What is the one thing that you find exceptionally challenging about the work?
Working as a housekeeping supervisor in a hospital capacity means that you have to be constantly on the go, ensuring that ALL areas are covered. This is probably the most challenging part of the work – to make sure that all staff members are working exactly as they have been instructed to.
What is the one strength that you possess which helps you in your work?
I possess a great ability to elicit work from people without putting too much pressure on them. This works wonderfully in a situation where most work is physical and demanding.
What is your main achievement in the role of a hospital housekeeping supervisor?
Recently, I managed to replace the existing supplies inventory system with a more efficient one, resulting in increased ease of issuing supplies to staff members. I believe that this is my most prized achievement till now.
