As I was growing up, I saw that there were innumerable people with mental and emotional health issues in the world and not enough support. This made me think on a deep level, eventually making me decide that this was my career.
What are some of the duties that you have performed while working as a mental health specialist?
In this role, I have performed many duties such as patient assessment, plan development, and implementation, patient monitoring, and counseling.
In addition, I have been busy helping with rehabilitation. Moreover, I have created and maintained a constant liaison with social services in order to provide appropriate referrals.
What is the one skill that you depend on while working as a mental health specialist?
While working as a mental health specialist, it is not possible to depend on just one skill. One has to possess a wide array of skills. Explicitly, I depend on my ability to reach out to even the most introvert of clients. Also, I am well-versed in many areas, such as plan development and modification, and crises intervention.
Tell us of a time that you had to deal with a crisis.
A patient whom I was counseling attempted self-harm during one of our sessions. I handled the situation by taking immediate action, and stopping him before he could injure himself.

I believe that working with children is quite challenging.
