1. What led you to choose a career as a mental health counselor?
I have always been great with people. Delving deep into what makes them tick and how they deal with everyday problems was fascinating for me, even before I decided that I wanted to take up this work. Since I believe that one should do what one is best at (and enjoys the most), I decided to make a career out of mental health counseling.
2. What have been your prime duties while working as a mental health counselor?
Assessing patients to determine their mental and emotional conditions has been my prime duty as a mental health counselor. Creating and implementing mental health care plans, and ensuring their efficacy is all in a day’s work for me. Providing behavioral interventions, and tweaking care plans to ensure that patients work their way to wellness have also been part of my daily work.
3. What is the one aspect of mental health that you believe is most prevalent nowadays?
Most of the cases that I get are regarding work-related stress. This I believe is most prevalent in the world nowadays.
4. How do you feel about younger patients coming in for mental health counseling?
It is one of the saddest things that I have had to deal with. Children and young adults should not be having all these issues. Unfortunately, the pressure of education and stress at home can lead to the most terrible of situations for them.
5. What is the one skill that you possess which makes you an excellent contender to work as a mental health counselor at our facility?
I have the most amazing capability of understanding individuals on the level that they require me to. I believe that these skills help me immensely with both assessments and care planning.
6. What are your 5-year career plans?
Within the next 5 years, I hope to have acquired sufficient resources to put together a high-end facility for mental health awareness and treatment.
